To screen out road in the backyard:

Aronia arbutifolia "Brilliantissima." Features flowers in the spring, red berries and brilliant red fall color.

Prunus laurocerasus (cherry laurel). Features evergreen leaves, flowers and fragrance during the spring, dark berries in the fall. Fast growing (~24 in/year).


Groundcovers

Convallaria majalis (Lily-of-the-Valley). Features sweetly scented flowers during the spring.

Illex opaca "Lowell," "Jersey Knight" and "Jersey Princess"
