First Lily

Partly cloudy.

Cut down iris stalks to rhizome (counted about 10 stalks, so 10 plants?), found rainwater collected in dirty pots and trays and used it to water strawberry plants, basil, lavender, and container plants. Plucked off two deformed berries from strawberry plants. Lavender in Jiffy pots seem to be doing a lot better than the one planted in the clay pot. Must be because they can absorb moisture better with bottom watering or perhaps I was less diligent about watering the one in the clay pot. Tidied up geraniums by picking off spent blooms and yellow leaves. Took pictures of wildflower growing in the backyard, the first lily of the season as well as other plants for record keeping. Also took pictures of bugs hanging around for identification. Cleaned pots with cold water.

Researched Tristar strawberries to see why they are tart instead of sweet. Researched brown flowers on Geranium [seems to be because of Botrytis Blight.

Signed up for Meadows on the Menu workshop at Duke Farms for tomorrow.

Next time:
Pull off yellowing leaves on the lilies.
